Inspect the final export
Run the file that you intend to host through the tool. An editor’s project settings may differ from the actual exported file, and a later compression step may change dimensions or duration. Keep the technical report alongside the final filename so that the hosted asset can be traced back to the checked version.
Preview the entire clip as well as its first frame. Look for accidental black frames, letterboxing that wastes space, blurry labels and a product variant that differs from the listing. Metadata alone cannot evaluate those details.
Keep one record per product and video
Maintain a small asset register with product ID, final filename, owner or licence record, public URL and last verification date. If several product variants share a clip, check that its visible details remain accurate for each of them. A stable product ID is the join between the asset and the existing offer.
- Choose the intended final cut before hosting.
- Record which variant appears in the footage.
- Keep a recoverable copy of the previous asset and feed entry.
Complete the checks metadata cannot answer
Confirm that you have the necessary marketing rights, that the clip represents the product faithfully and that the public host works when signed out. After an update, inspect Merchant Center’s own processing feedback. A report with no local metadata warning is a useful checkpoint, not a prediction of placement or advertising performance.
