Use the primary record as the source of truth
Copy the ID from the existing primary product source, including meaningful leading zeros and letter case. A title, internal database key or SKU shown elsewhere is not automatically the same identifier. Confirm the matching rule in your Merchant Center setup before uploading the update.
The generated TSV and XML contain only the video fields and ID. They are intentionally incomplete as a new primary product source. Use a supplemental source or merge them into the current primary export using the existing product join.
Review a small update before scaling
Start with a limited set of representative products. Keep the previous feed revision so a mistaken mapping can be reversed. Inspect the processed records and confirm that the update attached to the intended variants. This is especially useful when several stores or languages share similar-looking IDs.
- Preserve leading zeros by importing IDs as text.
- Keep every URL on the correct product record.
- Avoid duplicate repeated links within one item.
- Inspect the source processing result after import.
Treat the feed as a maintained asset
A successful upload does not end the workflow. Hosting changes, deleted videos and product revisions can invalidate an earlier association. Keep the asset register and last-checked date with your source data, and revisit the hosted URL whenever the product or clip changes. The tool’s export provides a reproducible local record of what was checked.
